4 killed, two still missing as vehicle plunges into river
DEHRADUN: Four persons were killed and six injured when their vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into Bhilangana river at Ghansali in Tehri district, police said.
The incident occurred around at 11am when the nine-seater vehicle carrying 12 passengers was on its way from Chamiyala to Ghansali. The vehicle skidded off the road while the driver tried to negotiate a sharp turn near the LPG gas godown at Ghansali, about 60-km from New Tehri city, and fell into a 100-m-deep gorge, police said.

Two people are still missing.
SP, Tehri, Mukhtar Mohsin said, “Four bodies have been recovered while six injured persons were taken to the district hospital for treatment. However, two persons are still missing. A team of Jal Police has been pressed into service in search of the missing persons.”
“Divers of Jal police and fire department personnel are in the water since afternoon with equipment in search of missing persons,” said Mohammad Akram, sub-inspector Ghansali police station.
Meanwhile, the deceased have been identified as Naveen (18), Asha Devi (53), Anita (31) and one person who could not be immediately identified. However, the police are yet to ascertain the identity of the missing persons, as the driver of the vehicle is still admitted in hospital. All the victims are reportedly from Chamiyal and nearby villages.
